What are the Requirements?
You must be aged 18yrs or over, autistic and living in Ireland with access to internet.
Why would you do this course?
If you are planning a return to education, or are currently accessing education and struggling, this course will help you develop a suite of skills to support your study.
What is the Commitment?
You will need to commit to attend all 6 sessions online. They are 90 mins each and will be recorded for you if you need to watch again later.
Establish a Plan for Success
Week one is about introductions, group expectations, and overview of the programme and an introduction to uncovering your strengths!
Next Stop: Strengths
Week 2 we will delve deeper into strengths. You'll have a chance to complete your own strengths profiles and how to use your strengths to leverage success!
Getting Ready with Planning and Study Skills
Week 3 will be all about planning, mind-mapping, assistive technology & supporting our planning differences.
Accounting Energy & Self-Care
Week 4 will be all about learning how to manage your energy, practical self-care strategies for Autistic people and developing your own wellbeing plan.
Getting familiar with Accommodations & Advocacy
In week 5 we'll get into the heart of self-advocacy, what accommodations you may need to succeed and how to go about getting them.
ENGAGE Toolkit
In week 6, our final session, we'll put all the skills together into your ENGAGE toolkit. We'll have a Q&A session and celebrate your achievements!
The ENGAGE programme is developed and delivered by Thriving Autistic, a new non-profit dedicated to advancing the human rights of Autistic and otherwise Neurodivergent people. Thriving Autistic is comprised of Autistic and Neurodivergent psychologists, therapists, coaches and educators. Our head of training, Claire O'Neill, M. Ed is chief developer of this exciting programme.
The programme is being delivered in collaboration with Galway Autism Partnership, an Irish autism charity dedicated to supporting autistic people and their families.
The programme is being funded by the Galway and Roscommon Education Training Board.
There is funding available for 8 places on this small group programme, with no cost to participants.
