About Dana

I am unapologetically: queer, trans non-binary, fat, disabled, and neurodivergent. I work from a social justice framework and embrace intersectionality and cultural humility.

In order to be neurodiversity-affirming, it is necessary to question a lot of what Western culture says is "normal." Embracing autistic identity is a natural extension of feminism, LGBTQIA rights, disability justice, Black Lives Matter, etc.

I am passionate about helping individuals unpack internalized oppression and the ways it contributes to mental health.

Existing with a marginalized identity is traumatic, and if therapy doesn't include healing trauma rooted in systemic oppression, it is incomplete.

I am a Registered Drama Therapist through the North American Drama Therapy Association.

I have a background in English Literature, Theatre, and Performance Studies.

About Life Coaching using Creative Arts

Hello! I am looking forward to working with you.

Receiving a new diagnosis can be challenging, and you might need extra support while you transition to a new way of understanding yourself and your needs.

Current habits might no longer be working for you. Or, you may want to structure your life in a different way moving forward.

Some people don't want to dive into family history or past traumas. Maybe you prefer to focus on how to better show up in the present, to get to where you want to be.

Life coaching is more future-focused than therapy. We will work towards specific short-term goals, and look at what skills and strengths you want to develop most.

Because I have experience with the arts, we can combine artistic expression with verbal processing. This can be especially helpful for anyone who experiences periods of non-speaking. It also provides a different, often richer, avenue for understanding your life experience.

You don't need any experience with theatre or drama, and you don't have to feel especially creative. I can pull from a variety of creative techniques based on your needs and interests. This could include visual art, music and song writing, poetry, creative writing, or even looking at fictional character archetypes which you relate to strongly.

We might focus on creating healthy and sustainable habits moving forward. Or, helping you learn neurodiversity-affirming ways to identify your strengths and use them to your advantage.

If this sounds exciting, then life coaching might be a good fit for you!
