About Alice

Hi, my name is Alice.

I am really excited to be involved with Thriving Autistic and to ‘meet you’!

I am a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and have spent over 10 years working in various areas of mental health, including substance misuse services, perinatal mental health & now in a service specifically for self-injury.

My skills as an Occupational Therapist lend themselves really well to working with supporting individuals to think about how they can adapt their roles & environments to suit their needs.

This includes considering in more depth your unique sensory needs & any executive functioning strengths/difficulties (you’re speaking to the number 1 procrastinator here). As someone who is neurodivergent myself & the parent to neurodivergent children, I bring both a personal and a professional approach to this.

I am passionate about supporting people to engage in meaningful occupations, whether that is a specific interest that brings them joy or working towards paid employment. I feel that there is something for everyone; we are individuals who have unique skills & there is no greater privilege than supporting someone to connect with their passion in life and find their true identity.

Alongside my core professional training, I have a wide range of training and experience in a variety of different skills to support me in our sessions; such as brief solution focussed therapy, motivational interviewing & compassion focussed therapy. I also have a strong desire to continue furthering my specialism around supporting neurodivergent individuals; to do this I continue to engage in discussions & learning opportunities within this community to make sure I am offering an inclusive service.

What does a session involve?

Depending on what the focus of our sessions is, we may use standardised assessment tools with treatment outcome measures or just talk through ideas for addressing any challenges that fit your individual life circumstances – all led by you as a client.

Sessions with an occupational therapist will support you to look at those occupations that are part of your life, for example - self-care, work or study. My particular areas of specialism include:

• Looking at executive functioning skills & considering how to adapt tasks to suit your unique strengths
• Potential reasonable accommodations with work or studying
• Sensory needs (if you would like a full sensory profile please see my other listing)

Though this list is not exhaustive, and I offer a free 15-minute consult, so please do get in touch if you feel I may be able to help so we can have a chat & discuss this.

What’s your availability & how many should I book?

I only offer sessions on a Saturday afternoon with Thriving Autistic. Due to demand I generally have a wait list for full sessions of approx. 4-6 weeks, though I can often fit in a consult sooner.

I often get asked about how many sessions someone should book – this is very individual & we can discuss it during a consult. However, I tend to work in a highly structured, solution-focussed way; this seems to work well for the majority of clients I have seen & means that you don’t have to commit to booking in for lots of sessions.

If you are looking for longer-term pieces of work then I would recommend contacting one of my fellow OTs at Thriving Autistic who are likely to have more capacity than I do. It may also be that, following a consult, we identify your needs would be better met by a colleague & I will always be open & honest about this.
